Jasprit Bumrah Slower Balls: Pakistan-born UAE fast bowler Zahoor Khan made a big claim regarding Jasprit Bumrah, one of the world’s greatest bowlers. Zahoor says that he has taught Bumrah to bowl ‘slower ball’. A video of Zahoor is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which he is seen talking about Bumrah.
The UAE bowler of Pakistani origin said that Bumrah used to bowl slower balls earlier also, but he taught Bumrah to bowl slower balls better. This incident happened during the 2019 IPL.
Zahoor Khan said in the video
In the viral video, Zahoor Khan said, “Let me tell a story. Bumrah used to bowl slower with a normal action. In a match played in Abu Dhabi, Bumrah, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Trent Boult scored a lot of runs. That year, the IPL was taking place in September, when the temperature in UAE is 50 degrees. You cannot even hold the ball properly at night because it gets wet.”
Zahoor further said, “Mumbai Indians called me, I quarantined for 6 days and went to practice on the 7th day. I was with the team that night. Zaheer Khan and Robin Singh knew me because I had bowled a maiden over in the T10 league. I bowled the first ball a yorker and the next five balls were slower. We were all sitting together. Then Bumrah came and sat in front of the table, Rohit Sharma came and sat there. I Was sitting there watching.”
Zahoor Khan spoke on slow bowling
Zahoor said, “I am doing the same action with the same grip. He said, how is this possible? I said, I will show you. He said okay, you will tell me in the next practice. I said okay. When the practice came, I was bowling. Shane Bond was the bowling coach of Mumbai. Mahela Jayawardene was standing behind the nets. I bowled a slow bouncer. I dodged the batsman. Shane Bond asked what is your grip? What? Do you put off cutters? I said no, that’s the same grip.”

Taught slower ball to Bumrah
Zahoor further said, “After a day or two, I was bowling with Bumrah. He said, ‘Paji, show me what is your grip? I showed him, it was the same. I bowled like this. Should come in the same action. Then he bowled the ball and said that this is a different thing. I am a UAE player and he is a world class bowler. I really liked that he is such a big star and is asking me.’ However, this claim of Zahoor has not been confirmed.
