‘I will not leave the country without permission’, Anil Ambani gives affidavit in SC in Rs 40,000 crore bank fraud case

Businessman Anil Ambani has assured the Supreme Court that he will not leave the country without the court’s permission. On February 4, his lawyer had said this orally to the court. Now a written affidavit has been filed.

The case is related to the allegation of bank loan scam of about Rs 40,000 crore against Reliance ADAG Group. In the last hearing, the court had expressed concern over the delay in the investigation by CBI and ED. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta had assured that both the agencies would take necessary steps.

There has been an allegation of loan fraud worth Rs 40 thousand crore in Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group companies. Former IAS officer EAS Sarma has filed a petition demanding an impartial investigation into the case under the supervision of the court. Anil Ambani has filed an affidavit in this matter.

Anil Ambani told that he has not gone out of the country since July 25 nor does he have any plans to go out at present. He said that if he needs to go out, he will first take permission from the court. Anil Ambani said that he is fully cooperating with the agencies in the investigation and will do so in future also. He told that the Enforcement Directorate has sent him summons and asked him to appear on 26th February.

The petitioner has called it a case of misappropriation of public funds worth thousands of crores of rupees. The petitioner has demanded an impartial investigation under the supervision of the court. It has been claimed in the petition that this fraud has been going on since 2007, but only now has an FIR been registered. Still the investigation is not going on properly.

The petitioner says that between 2013 and 2017, ADAG’s subsidiaries Reliance Infratel and Reliance Telecom took loans worth Rs 31,580 crore from the State Bank-led group of banks, but this money was misused. Thousands of crores of rupees were embezzled.
