Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday (30 December 2025) alleged that the Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal is promoting infiltration of Bangladeshis for electoral gains. Addressing a program in Bankura, CM Mamata Banerjee asked, ‘BJP says that infiltrators come only from Bengal. If so, then did you instigate the attack in Pahalgam? Who was behind the terrorist incident that happened in Delhi?

TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee alleged that BJP is harassing people in the name of SIR. He compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to Duryodhana and Dushasan of Mahabharata. He said, ‘Shakuni’s disciple Dushasan has come to Bengal to gather information. As soon as the elections come, Dushasan and Duryodhan start appearing. PM Modi visited Bengal on 20 December. The Union Home Minister is currently on a three-day visit to the state ahead of the 2026 Bengal elections.
‘Did you carry out the Pahalgam attack?’
Responding to the Home Minister’s statement, CM Mamata said, ‘If there are no terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, then how did the Pahalgam incident happen? Did you organize the attack in Pahalgam? Who was behind the incident in Delhi? Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized that the 2026 Bengal elections will be fought on the issue of infiltration. He accused Mamata Banerjee of not allocating land to build a fence on the border with neighboring Bangladesh. On this, the TMC Chief said, ‘All the railway projects were completed because the state had provided land. Today BJP is saying that Mamata Banerjee did not give the land, then who gave the land in Petrapole and Andal?
‘SIR is a scam being done with the help of AI’
The Chief Minister of West Bengal alleged that SIR is a big scam being done with the help of AI. He said that if the name of even one valid voter is removed from the voter list, the Trinamool Congress will gherao the Election Commission office in Delhi. He said, ‘Around 60 people have died due to SIR. Elderly people are being called for document verification hearing. The people of the state will not tolerate such “harassment”. People will not allow BJP to come to power in West Bengal.
