AC Tips: The use of air conditioners in homes and offices increases rapidly during the summer season. To get relief from the scorching heat, people run AC for a long time, but sometimes accidents happen due to negligence or misuse. In some cases, incidents of loud bang or fire occur as soon as the AC is switched on. Most people consider it to be a malfunction of the machine, whereas the real reason is often small mistakes which can be avoided in time.
Bad wiring can be the biggest reason
The most common reason for explosion or short circuit in AC is bad or weak electrical wiring. Air conditioner consumes a lot of electricity, hence if the wiring of the house is old or of low capacity then there is additional load on it. Many times, loose socket, bad plug or use of substandard extension board also increases the risk. In such a situation, as soon as the AC is switched on, an electric shock may occur or the wires may heat up and produce sparks.
Not getting regular service done is also risky
Many people keep running AC without service for years. Due to dust, dirt and frozen waste, the pressure on the internal parts of the AC increases. The condenser or compressor does not function properly and overheating occurs. In case of overheating, the risk of machine malfunction or fire may increase. Therefore, it is considered necessary to get the AC serviced before the start of every season.
Installing AC at wrong place is also dangerous
The place of installation of AC also matters a lot. If the outdoor unit is installed in a place where there is not proper air flow, the machine may overheat quickly. Many times people install the outdoor unit very close to the wall or in a closed area due to which the hot air is not able to come out. This increases the pressure on the system and increases the risk of malfunction.
Accidents can be avoided by taking these simple precautions
To reduce the risks associated with AC, it is very important to adopt some important precautions. First of all, ensure that there is a separate and strong power connection for the AC. Always use good quality plugs and sockets. Every year before the start of summer, get your AC serviced by an experienced technician.
Apart from this, install the outdoor unit at a place where there is adequate air flow and the machine is less affected by direct sunlight or excessive heat. If problems like burning smell, strange noise or frequent power trips are noticed from the AC, then it should be immediately switched off and it should be checked by an expert.
