Impact of Iran war, Pakistan is yearning for petrol and diesel, petrol pumps are empty in many states

Amid the Iran War, the neighboring country Pakistan is currently facing a severe shortage of petrol and diesel, be it Balochistan or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or Punjab province of Pakistan or Sindh, everywhere people are seen complaining about the lack of petrol and diesel at most of the petrol pumps.

In fact, 35 percent of Pakistan’s total oil requirement is met by oil imported illegally from Iran. Where in Balochistan, 80% of total petrol and diesel consumption is met by Iranian oil. Similarly, 20% of the total oil requirement of Sindh is met by Iranian oil, 18% of the oil requirement of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 13% of the oil requirement of Punjab is met by Iranian oil.

Iranian oil is brought illegally

Iranian oil is much cheaper than other oils in Pakistan. For example, at present the price of petrol in entire Pakistan is Rs 266 per liter but the price of Iranian petrol is Rs 172 per liter and because Balochistan province shares the border with Iran, every day 1 crore liters of petrol and diesel is illegally brought into Pakistan and sold in many border areas of Balochistan.

Situation worse in Balochistan

Although Pakistan is claiming that it has petrol and diesel for the next 24 days, but due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in the war, oil is not able to reach Pakistan through any other route. Also, due to the war in Iran, Iranian petrol and diesel is also not reaching Pakistan, due to which the worst condition is visible in Balochistan where more than 70 percent of the petrol pumps are empty.

Similarly, the picture of shortage of petrol and diesel is emerging in many areas of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the reason for which is being said to be hoarding of petrol and diesel by the dealers. Also, the situation of shortage is such that in many areas of Punjab, petrol worth more than Rs 300 is not being filled in people’s vehicles.
