Suleman Isa Khan and Qasim Khan, sons of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, can reach Pakistan from London in January 2026. Both are extremely concerned about their father’s condition and have claimed that their father has been kept in the death cell because the people in power know that if he comes out, he will be in danger. People from the opposing camp are afraid of Imran Khan’s ‘popularity’.
The two brothers, living in London, have applied for visas and have expressed hope that they will be granted entry as per the public announcement by the Pakistani authorities. The announcement was made in an interview with Sky News, in which both brothers expressed grave concern over their father’s prison situation. Qasim Khan said that Imran Khan has been kept in a cell like death cell, where he remains alone for 23 hours a day.
On Tuesday (December 16, 2026), many supporters of the PTI founder, including the three sisters, had staged a protest outside the jail, and water cannon were used to disperse them late in the evening. According to Pakistan’s leading media outlet Dawn, the protesters claimed that the authorities had used water laced with chemicals.
When Suleman was questioned about all this, he called it an inhuman situation and said that he gets extremely stressed after hearing rumors of his father’s death on social media. Hakim also said that he had earlier talked about the warning not to come, while Defense Minister Khawaja Asif had said that he was welcome and could meet Imran.”
To this Qasim replied, ‘Now we are planning it because he has said this openly. So – as long as they don’t go back on their word – we hope to go in January. We have applied for our visa. It has not arrived yet. We hope to come, so we are planning a trip in January.
Permission to meet is constantly being withheld by the jail administration and the family is not able to get accurate information about Imran Khan’s health. Imran Khan is lodged in Adiala jail since August 2023, where he has been convicted in Toshakhana and other cases. Both claimed that they would go to Brussels or Geneva in January to talk to leaders and officials around the world about their father’s situation.
When he was asked if he had ever thought that one day he would lobby for his father’s release. Qasim replied, ‘Yes, probably, to be honest, because we, especially my brother, had explained to him for a long time not to go into politics when such dangerous people were continuously killing people.’ Noting that many other Pakistani leaders have also been jailed, Qasim said, ‘This is completely different. Not all of them are tortured in solitary cells and they do not stay there for more than two years.
Both sons say that the rulers are afraid of Imran Khan’s popularity. Qasim said, ‘He is the most popular person in the country. They know that the moment he (Imran) comes out, the opponents will have no chance to remain in power. That’s why they are trying their best to cling to power by any means possible.
