Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Wednesday (February 4, 2026) made a scathing attack on the opposition, Congress and especially Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over the uproar during the discussion in the Lok Sabha. Regarding the ruckus and rhetoric of the opposition in the Parliament, he termed the politics of Congress as negative and chaotic.
He said that in its desperation to be out of power, Congress is destroying democratic norms and constitutional arrangements. Those who claim to save the Constitution by taking the Constitution book in their hands are violating its basic spirit.
What did the Union Minister say about Rahul Gandhi?
While talking to the media, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who was on a visit to Jodhpur in Rajasthan, said that the people of the country have recognized this behavior of the Congress and due to this the party has been reduced to the margins.
Taking aim at Rahul Gandhi, Union Minister Shekhawat said, ‘The conduct of the Leader of the Opposition is causing dissatisfaction not only in the country but also within the Congress party itself. Due to the increasing dissatisfaction within the party, Rahul Gandhi himself seems to be getting marginalized politically and is making such statements to keep himself relevant.
Union Budget brings very good signs for India – Shekhawat
Along with this, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat described the budget of the Central Government as excellent and visionary. He said that the beginning of the new financial year has brought very auspicious signs for India. The EU-India FTA with the European Union is one of the biggest achievements of the last two-and-a-half decades, which he described as the Mother of All Deals.
He said that after Covid, when the major economies of the world were struggling with inflation and slow growth, India not only kept inflation under control, but also set an example by maintaining fiscal discipline and becoming the fastest growing major economy for four consecutive years.
He further said, ‘In this budget, a historic capital expenditure of Rs 12 lakh crore will be spent on infrastructure, which will give a new impetus to growth through multiplier effect in the economy. Special focus has been laid on sectors like ease of doing business, export promotion, green hydrogen, semiconductor.
Union Minister said a big achievement regarding US-India trade deal
Shekhawat also described the India-US trade agreement and removal of American tariffs as a big achievement for the country. He said that this will give India a competitive edge over its neighboring countries in labour-intensive sectors like textiles, gems and jewellery, handicrafts. He said that today India is no longer just a spectator of global decisions, but is now in the role of a leader. These economic decisions taken in the last few days will prove to be a milestone in the direction of making India a developed nation and the third largest economy in the world.
