A sensational case of kidnapping of a TV and film actress has come to light in Bengaluru. Her estranged husband Harshvardhan has been made the main accused in the kidnapping of 28-year-old actress Chaitra R.
According to the FIR, this incident happened on December 7 near Mysore Road Metro Station. The accused Harsh Vardhan, a resident of Hosakoppalu in Hassan district, is said to be the owner of Vardhan Enterprises and a film producer. His associate Kaushik has also been named in this case.
Chaitra’s sister Leela R (23), a resident of Hosadurga in Chitradurga district, has lodged a police complaint. According to the complaint, Chaitra and Harshvardhan had a love marriage in 2023 and the marriage took place with the consent of both the families. The couple has a one-year-old daughter, Monisha. However, due to marital dispute, both were living separately for the last 7-8 months. Harshvardhan was living in Hassan, while Chaitra was living with her daughter in a rented house on Magadi Road, Bengaluru and earning her living by working in TV serials.
The complaint states that on the morning of December 7, Chaitra had told the family that she was going to Mysore for shooting. Police say that this was part of a well-planned conspiracy. It is alleged that Harshvardhan gave an advance of Rs 20,000 to his associate Kaushik and called Chaitra to Mysore Road metro station at around 8 in the morning. From there, Chaitra was allegedly forcibly taken into a car and taken through NICE Road and Bidadi Marg.
Around 10:30 in the morning, Chaitra somehow informed his friend Girish about the kidnapping, who immediately informed the family. In the evening, Harsh Vardhan allegedly called Chaitra’s mother Siddhamma and confessed to the kidnapping and threatened that if the girl was not brought to her destination, Chaitra would not be released. Later he called another relative and asked him to bring the girl to Arsikere and in return assured to drop Chaitra safely. During this period, Chaitra’s mobile phone remained switched off, which further increased the family’s worries. The family members present in Tumkur and Bengaluru gathered and reached the police.
