‘In the Strait of Hormuz…’, Japan’s Prime Minister said no to supporting Trump, opened cards on escorting ships

Strait of Hormuz: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi told parliament that Tokyo has no plans to send naval ships to protect oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The Prime Minister said, “We have not yet taken any decision whether we will deploy the ships or not. We are looking at what Japan can do independently and what is possible within the legal framework.”

This statement has come at a time when US President Donald Trump is continuously appealing to his allies to help protect this important waterway, through which one-fifth of the world’s oil supply passes.

Objective and possible announcement of Naval Coalition

According to media reports, the aim of the Naval Coalition is to ensure the safety of ships in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil routes. It is expected that this announcement can be made in the next few days, and the next 72 hours of this week can prove to be important in this matter. If this happens, it may further increase the maritime conflict between Iran and America.

Importance of Hormuz Waterway

The Strait of Hormuz is extremely important for the world’s oil trade. It is estimated that about 20 percent of the world’s crude oil supply passes through this sea route. But due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the movement of ships on this route has almost come to a standstill. Due to this, there has been a rise in fuel prices in many countries. If this road remains closed for a long time, it may affect the economy of the entire world including India.

Trump asked for warships from many countries

US President Donald Trump has appealed to many countries to send their warships to this area so that oil and container ships can pass safely. The countries whose names have appeared in this mission include China, France, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom. However, till now no country has given firm support publicly.
