The European Union (EU) has signed a very important defense and security agreement with India as US President Donald Trump keeps his eyes on Greenland like a vulture. Under this, the European Union and India have agreed to increase cooperation in the fields of maritime security, cyber, counter terrorism and space.
This defense and security partnership was signed on Tuesday by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and High Representative of the European Commission Kaja Kallas. During this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, EU President Antonio Costa and European Commission Commissioner Ursula Van der Leyen were also present.
Expressing happiness after signing the agreement with the Foreign Minister, Kaja Kallas said that “When two major democracies (EU and India) work together, we build stronger shared security.”

Kaza said that with the changes taking place in the global order, the European Union will continue to strengthen its diplomatic and economic relations around the world. “Strong partnerships multiply our strength.”
EU conflict with US over Ukraine and Greenland
In fact, there is a fierce dispute going on between America and European countries over the occupation of Ukraine and now Greenland. US President Donald Trump is adamant on making Greenland a part of America at any cost. European countries are very angry with Trump for his leniency towards Russia in the Ukraine war. Now the EU is holding its breath over the occupation of Greenland, an autonomous country of Denmark. In such a situation, the EU’s defense and security agreement with India is considered very important.
This agreement will strengthen national security: Ministry of External Affairs
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, this agreement will strengthen national security and increase cooperation in defense technology. Through the agreement, defense companies of India and Europe will be able to jointly manufacture weapons and other military equipment and also cooperate in the hybrid domain. In such a situation, weapons will be manufactured in the country under Make in India. This agreement marks the beginning of the annual security and defense dialogue, the first meeting of which will be held within a month.
Meeting between Rajnath Singh and Kaja Kallas
Before signing the agreement, Kallas met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in the capital Delhi. After the meeting, Rajnath Singh expressed happiness over meeting Kallas and said, “We discussed a range of bilateral security and defense related issues, including opportunities for integration of supply chains to build credible defense systems and develop future-ready capabilities.
It is noteworthy that about 10 days ago, the Defense Ministry had given the green signal to the Air Force for 114 Rafale fighter aircraft shared with France. Under this deal, France’s Dassault company will manufacture 114 Rafale fighter jets in India. Before that, there was also an important discussion with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who was visiting India, about building a joint submarine for the Navy.
