This is Team India’s first defeat in a multi-nation T20 tournament since losing the semi-final to England in Adelaide in the T20 World Cup 2022. During this period, the Indian team played a total of 23 matches, out of which it won 21, one match remained inconclusive and it had to face defeat in one match. Team India had also lost the final of ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia at Narendra Modi Stadium itself. Since that match, this is India’s first defeat in 18 matches in all formats of ICC events.
