Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal did not give a direct answer to this question whether India will stop or continue buying oil from Russia. He said on Saturday that only the Foreign Ministry will talk on this issue. US President Donald Trump had posted on Monday and claimed that with the deal with America, India will stop buying oil from Russia. At present no response has been given by India on this.
However, it was claimed in media reports quoting sources that India will take its decisions keeping in mind the needs of the people of the country. It was said that those non-restricted entities who are offering the best deal will continue to buy oil from the market. The prices will be decided according to the market.
What did Piyush Goyal say on tariff reduction?
Union Minister Piyush Goyal said India faces lower tariffs than the US economy, which is much lower than other economies. The trade deal between the two countries will not harm Indian farmers. America imposes 20 percent tariff on our neighboring countries Vietnam and Bangladesh, 19 percent on Indonesia and 35 percent on China. He also said that there are many things which our exporters can send to America without any tariff. During this he gave the example of a smartphone.
Products on which India is self-reliant were kept out of the deal: Goyal
He said that the products in which India is self-reliant have been kept out of the scope of this deal. Genetically modified crops, meat, poultry, dairy, soybean, maize, rice, wheat, sugar, millet, coarse grains like ragi, amaranth will not be allowed into India at the reduced tariff.
He also said that no concession has been given on fruits like banana, strawberry, cherry and citrus fruits. No concessions have been given in the deal on green tea, chickpea, moong, oilseeds, groundnuts, malt and malt-based products, non-alcoholic beverages, starch, ethanol, tobacco. In this way Indian farmers have been protected.
He said that apart from this, there are many agricultural products which, if exported by America, will attract zero tariff. It contains spices, tea, coffee, coconut, coconut oil, cashew nuts and many fruits and vegetables.
Opposition accused of being anti-farmer
Also, while targeting the opposition, he said that there are some people in this country who are anti-farmers. They try to mislead the farmers. These people are surprised that no concession has been given on agricultural products under the trade deal between India and America.

Apart from this, regarding the discussion on the deal in the House, he said that the Speaker and Chairman will decide what should and what should not be done in the Parliament. Not everything can be read in Parliament. Some matters have to be taken directly to the people of the country. Apart from this, he said that there is a wave of happiness in the country due to the trade agreement. There is enthusiasm in every area of the country. This deal will be beneficial for every sector.
