However, this will not be for any bilateral meeting or formal talks, but it will be possible during the swearing-in ceremony of the new government in Bangladesh.
The swearing in of the new government in Bangladesh is going to take place on 17th February. The event will be held at 4 pm on Tuesday at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building in Dhaka. Representatives from many countries including India and Pakistan are expected to attend the event.
Pakistan ministers will also participate
Many well-known international personalities are likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony. These may include Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, India’s Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Pakistan’s Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal. Apart from this, Nepal’s Foreign Minister Bala Nand Sharma, Sri Lanka’s Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa and Britain’s Indo Pacific Under Secretary Seema Malhotra are also expected to attend. Apart from this, Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu is also expected to participate in the ceremony. According to diplomatic rules, invitations have been sent to all the countries. However, formal confirmation has not been made yet by some countries.
Lok Sabha speaker will go from India’s side
On behalf of India, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed on Sunday that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will attend the swearing-in ceremony. The Ministry of External Affairs said in its official statement that Om Birla’s presence in this important event reflects the deep and strong friendship between India and Bangladesh. It also shows India’s commitment to the democratic values ​​that bind the two countries. The statement further said that as neighboring countries linked by shared history, culture and mutual respect, India welcomes the formation of the elected government under the leadership of Tariq Rehman. His vision and values ​​have received widespread public support.
Preparations going on in full swing
Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are already underway in the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat. According to tradition, this ceremony is usually held in the designated oath taking hall of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan. It is noteworthy that in the 13th parliamentary elections, voting was held for 299 out of 300 seats on 12 February.
