MP Asaduddin Owaisi shared the exact location and contact number of the student on the social media platform ‘X’ and appealed to Foreign Minister Dr. Immediate action has been requested from Jaishankar. He said that confiscation of the passport of an Indian citizen by a foreign institution is not only a violation of human rights but is also against international diplomatic protocol.

This incident has come to light at a time when the situation in Iran is extremely unstable due to internal protests and ongoing military tensions with Israel. In the last few weeks, many Indian students had sent video messages from Tehran pleading for their safety. Although medical organizations (AIMSA) had earlier assured the safety of the students, Ayman Fatima’s case has become more sensitive due to missing and seized documents.

This initiative of Asaduddin Owaisi has once again brought the issue of security of Indians stranded abroad into the mainstream debate. Now it remains to be seen how quickly the Ministry of External Affairs responds to this rescue call.
