IPL 2026 schedule will be released on this date, BCCI Secretary gave a big update; with a twist too

There is intense discussion regarding the schedule of IPL 2026. Earlier it was being said that the schedule of the upcoming season of the league would be released before the closing ceremony on the day of the T20 World Cup final i.e. last Sunday (08), but this could not happen. Now Devjit Saikia, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI, shared a big update regarding the schedule. He told on which date the schedule will be released. Apart from this, he also told a big twist.

Speaking to news agency IANS, BCCI Secretary said, “We are planning to release the schedule of IPL 2026 by March 12. For now, we will release the schedule for the first 20 days.”

In some reports that came out earlier, it was said that the schedule will be released in two phases. It was told that the IPL Governing Council has cleared the schedule of the first half. However, at present only the schedule for the first 20 days will be released.

Let us tell you that the delay in releasing the IPL schedule is due to elections. The schedule will be released in different phases also due to elections. Let us tell you that assembly elections are to be held in West Bengal, Assam and Tamil Nadu this year i.e. in 2026, keeping this in mind the IPL schedule is being prepared. IPL matches will be played in all three states.

When can the league start?

In a report that came out some time ago, it was said that the upcoming season of IPL can start from March 28. The title match can be played on May 31. However, it is worth noting that earlier the date was being said to be between March 26 and May 30. The actual date will be revealed only after the official schedule is released. Now it will be interesting to see when the tournament starts and in how many stages the schedule is released.
