IPL, the world’s biggest T20 league, has seen many such matches when two batsmen made record partnerships and completely changed the course of the match. IPL 2026 is going to start from March 28 and before that we are telling you about the 5 biggest partnerships which have made a special place in the history of the league.
1. Virat Kohli – AB de Villiers (229 runs)
The biggest partnership in IPL history is in the name of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Both the batsmen, while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru on 14 May 2016, added 229 runs for the second wicket against Gujarat Lions. This partnership is still considered the biggest partnership of IPL.
2. Virat Kohli – AB de Villiers (215* runs)
This explosive pair is also at number two in this list. On 10 May 2015, both of them made an unbeaten 215-run partnership against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In this innings, both the batsmen batted brilliantly and thrashed the bowlers.
3. KL Rahul – Quinton de Kock (210* runs)
At number three comes the pair of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock. On 18 May 2022, while playing for Lucknow Super Giants, both of them made an unbeaten 210-run partnership for the first wicket against Kolkata Knight Riders.
4. Shubhman Gill – Sai Sudarshan (210 runs)
The pair of Shubhman Gill and Sai Sudarshan is at number four in this list. Both the batsmen, while playing for Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on 10 May 2024, made a big partnership of 210 runs for the first wicket against Chennai Super Kings.
5. Shaun Marsh – Adam Gilchrist (206 runs)
The pair of Shaun Marsh and Adam Gilchrist is at fifth place in this elite list. On 17 May 2011, while playing for Kings XI Punjab in Dharamshala, both of them added 206 runs for the second wicket against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
