America and Israel launched large-scale military attacks on Iran on Saturday (28 February 2026). America has named this operation Operation Epic Fury, while Israel has named it Lion’s Roar. US President Donald Trump has called this action a major military operation against Iran. According to BBC report, the areas around the office of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were also targeted during the attacks. After these attacks, tension in the Middle East has increased further.
Iran retaliated by targeting American military bases in the Middle East. The Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted American bases in the area. The sounds of explosions were heard in Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and other parts of the United Arab Emirates.
Iran has claimed that it is targeting American and Israeli targets and assets as part of its campaign. The security situation in the area remains extremely sensitive. After the attack on Iran, sirens were also sounded in Israel and citizens were instructed to go to shelters. After the recent tension in Gaza and so-called peace efforts, an emergency-like situation has once again arisen in Israel. Security agencies are on high alert in view of the possibility of retaliatory missile and drone attacks from Iran.

Middle East tensions impact air services
Air services have also been affected amid increasing military tension in the Middle East. Air India has canceled all its flights to this region citing security reasons. Describing the safety of passengers as a priority, the company has said that services will remain suspended until the situation becomes normal. Earlier, Syria along with Gulf countries had also temporarily closed its airspace. This step has been taken due to the fear of missile and drone attacks in the area. Due to closure of airspace, a situation has arisen due to rerouting or cancellation of international flights. Turkish Airlines has also suspended its flights to the Middle East till March 2. The airline issued a statement saying that it is continuously monitoring the situation and further decisions will be taken based on the security assessment.
