Iran-Israel Conflict: Abu Dhabi flight lands at Delhi airport amidst war, passengers describe the scene

Amidst the tension created in the Middle East after the recent military attacks on Iran, air services are gradually being restored. On Monday, a plane from Abu Dhabi landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the Indian capital Delhi, a significant sign of the resumption of India-linked travel in the Gulf region after several days of disruption. However, the situation still remains critical and airlines are starting their services in a limited manner with caution.

Passengers returning from Abu Dhabi to Delhi shared the scary scene over the Gulf region. A passenger named ‘Shiv’ told news agency PTI, “The situation in the sky was quite tense. We could see that missiles were being intercepted continuously. The airspace was very busy, although there was no direct or major impact in Abu Dhabi.” Apart from Delhi, another flight of Etihad Airways has also reached Mumbai from Abu Dhabi.

Airlines started the restoration process

Air India Express has announced that it will resume its services to Muscat (Oman) from March 3. It will reconnect major cities like Delhi, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Mumbai and Tiruchirappalli. Not only this, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh has given information on the news, “Indigo Airlines will fly special flights to India from Jeddah.”

At the same time, travel platform Ease My Trip has decided to operate special charter flights from Fujairah (UAE) to Delhi and Mumbai on the evening of March 3 to help the stranded passengers. The company has clarified that seats are limited and will be given on ‘first come-first serve’ basis.

Caution advised

Major airlines Emirates and flydubai have also resumed their limited flights from the evening of March 2. Emirates has made it clear that their priority is to accommodate those passengers whose bookings were made earlier. The airline has told passengers in a stern tone, “Please do not come to the airport until you are informed. Most of the flights are still suspended.”

Keeping safety as paramount, airlines have advised passengers to update their flight status and contact details before leaving home. These situations arising after the war in the Middle East have alerted the global aviation sector, due to which there will be a possibility of change in flight timings for the coming few days.
