Former US National Security Advisor John Bolton has sharply criticized US President Donald Trump on his Iran policy. He said that Trump misjudged the situation of the ongoing war with Iran and it is possible that he thought that he could quickly bring about regime change, as America had earlier tried to do in Venezuela. Bolton said that if Trump had thought like this, he was wrong before and is wrong today also.
In a recent interview given to Clash Report, Bolton alleged that Trump often takes big decisions without any planning. According to him, Trump’s decision is not based on any kind of strategic thinking but was taken suddenly. Bolton said that big decisions like military operations require major planning and extensive preparation, but Trump generally does not do so.

The ongoing war with Iran has now entered its second week and missile and drone attacks continue in the Gulf region. It is also affecting the world’s energy supply. During this time, oil transport from Hormuz is under threat. Bolton said that this threat was already obvious and the White House should have prepared for it.

Although criticizing Trump, Bolton also praised the action of the US Army. He says that during the military campaign, many of Iran’s military capabilities have been weakened and its command and communication systems have also suffered heavy damage.
