Ishan Kishan, who played an important role in India’s big win by playing a brilliant inning of 77 runs in 40 balls in the ICC T20 World Cup Group A match against Pakistan, said here on Sunday that this victory will boost the team’s confidence a lot.
Apart from hitting 10 fours and three sixes in 40 balls on a spin-friendly pitch, Ishaan established India’s dominance by adding 87 runs for the second wicket with Tilak Verma (25). He was chosen ‘Player of the Match’ for this innings.
After scoring 175 runs for seven wickets, India bowled out Pakistan for 114 runs in 18 overs and won by 61 runs.
Ishan said at the awards ceremony after the match, “I think the wicket was not that easy in the beginning. In such a situation, it was important to have confidence in yourself and focus on your strengths. I have worked hard on my off-side game. I was just trying to keep things simple.
He said that the target in his mind was to score 160-170 runs. He said, “It was clear in my mind that if we score 160-170 runs, it will be a good score for us.” He said that this victory will boost the morale of the team.
He said, “India vs Pakistan is always a special match, not only for us but for the entire country. Winning this match against Pakistan will give us a lot of confidence and we would like to maintain this momentum in the future also.
Praising Indian fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, he said, “When Shaheen was bowling, I didn’t think the pitch was helping the fast bowlers much, but the way Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik bowled in those two overs was incredible.”
