For this, the frame and back panel are fitted in such a way that there is no gap between them. If there are gaps, water can come inside, so first these gaps are filled properly.

There are many spots including charging port, SIM tray and buttons from where there are chances of water getting inside. To prevent these, silicone gasket and rubber sealing ring are used. For example, a small waterproof ring is placed on the SIM tray, which gets compressed as soon as it goes inside the SIM tray and prevents any liquid including water from reaching the internal parts of the phone. The case of the speaker is a little more difficult because it needs airflow. For this, hydrophobic acoustic membrane or specially engineered mesh material is used. These prevent water or other liquids from entering, but allow sound waves to pass.

Even after all these arrangements, moisture and water can still come inside. For its protection, another layer is added inside the phone. Nano-hydrophobic coating is applied on the motherboard, connectors and printed circuit board of the phone, which repels water. This coating also does not guarantee full safety and it acts only as a safety coating.
