Dumariyaganj MP and senior BJP leader Jagdambika Pal, who reached Sant Kabirnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi is behaving indecently in the House and is hurting parliamentary traditions by misusing freedom of expression.
Jagdambika Pal had reached the inauguration program of ‘Shri Ortho Super Multispeciality Hospital’ located at Badgo in Kotwali area of the city. Meanwhile, while talking to the media, he targeted the opposition parties, especially Congress.
He said that Rahul Gandhi’s allegation that he is not allowed to speak in the House is completely baseless. Pal claimed that when he himself was on the chair, Rahul Gandhi had spoken for about 50 minutes. He said that usually members get 5 to 15 minutes of time, in such a situation, after speaking for 50 minutes, saying that they did not get a chance to speak is ridiculous. He also said that the proceedings of the House sometimes continue till 12 o’clock in the night so that all the members get an opportunity to present their views.
Objection to the motion against the Speaker
Pal also reacted strongly to the ‘Vote of No Confidence’ motion brought by the Congress against the Speaker. He called it unethical and a wrong step. According to him, targeting constitutional institutions and the post of Speaker for political gains is unfortunate for parliamentary history.
Questions on language and conduct
Jagdambika Pal said that Rahul Gandhi makes wild allegations in the House and the kind of language he uses is not in line with the dignity of an MP. He sarcastically said that in India everyone has freedom of expression, but democratic freedom should not be misused. After this statement, the rhetoric in political circles is expected to intensify.
