During the open debate on ‘Leadership for Peace’ in the United Nations Security Council, India gave a blunt reply to Pakistan. India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Harish P. said in clear words that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inseparable parts of India and will always remain so. He denied any kind of compromise on the issue of terrorism and made serious allegations against Pakistan.
Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India
Responding to the statement of the representative of Pakistan, Ambassador Harish P. said that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral and inseparable part of India. He said, ‘They were a part of India earlier also, are still there today and will always be so.’ India clarified that Pakistan repeatedly raising this issue in international forums reflects its anti-India thinking.
Pakistan accused of harming India
India said that despite being a non-permanent member of the Security Council, Pakistan is using every platform to harm India and its people. The Ambassador said that a country which misuses every forum of the United Nations to pursue its divisive politics cannot be expected to fulfill its responsibilities and obligations.
India’s stance on Indus Water Treaty
India had accepted the Indus Water Treaty 65 years ago in the spirit of goodwill and friendship, but Pakistan still carried out three wars and thousands of terrorist attacks against India. India said that Pakistan has violated the spirit of this treaty for decades.
Pakistan’s hand behind terrorism
India said that thousands of Indians have lost their lives in Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in the last four decades. The latest example of this is the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April 2025, in which 26 innocent civilians were killed on the basis of religion. India described Pakistan as the center of global terrorism.
Reason for postponing Indus Water Treaty
India clarified that in view of these circumstances, it has been decided to put the Indus Water Treaty on hold until Pakistan credibly and permanently ends cross-border terrorism and all forms of terrorist support.
Questions on Pakistan’s internal politics
Ambassador Harish P. also raised questions on the democratic status of Pakistan. He said that in Pakistan the Prime Minister is jailed, the ruling political party is banned and power is seized by the army through constitutional amendments, in which the army chief is even given lifetime protection. In the end, India said in clear words that it will fight Pakistan sponsored terrorism in every shape and form with full force. India reiterated that there will be no compromise on terrorism and its stand on issues related to national security will remain firm.
