Karnataka: Woman BJP official accuses police of stripping her, Chief Minister denies allegations

A woman official of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who was recently arrested in connection with the attack on government officials in Karnataka, alleged that the police misbehaved with her during her arrest. However, the police have rejected this allegation. Police claim that the woman herself removed her clothes and also attacked the policemen. He also suffered injuries after being bitten by the woman.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah blamed the woman for the incident, while the BJP alleged that the police disrobed its party functionary. A video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking controversy.

Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner N Sasikumar on Wednesday rejected the woman’s allegations and claimed that the woman herself not only removed her clothes but also bit four police officers, including two sub-inspectors.

According to sources, the revenue officer along with the policemen had gone to the place to remove encroachment on government land, where they were allegedly attacked by the illegal encroachers. A case was registered in this regard and the woman is the main accused. Police claim that when the police team arrived to arrest her, the woman protested against the arrest.

The police team forcefully made the woman sit in the police vehicle. The woman has alleged that the police team stripped her. Refuting this allegation, Sasikumar informed the journalists about the incident. He told that when government officials reached Chalukya Nagar area of ​​Keshwapur in Hubli for land survey, people started resisting them and attacked them.

Three separate cases were registered in this regard. In one of these cases, the Investigating Officer (IO) decided to arrest a woman involved in the crime. Sasikumar said that the investigating officer exercised utmost restraint and caution during the arrest. He took about eight to 10 women officers and personnel with him because he was fully aware of the possibility of a disturbance.

“Despite this, when the woman was taken in the police vehicle, she herself removed her clothes,” the officer said. Our women officers and personnel present at the spot took the help of local people and arranged for other clothes. He told that the police repeatedly requested the woman to wear other clothes.

Sasikumar said, ‘Therefore the allegation leveled against the police is completely false and has been done with malicious intent. I have confirmed the incident. The Police Commissioner said that he has asked the Deputy Commissioner of Police to thoroughly investigate the entire sequence of incidents from January 1 to 5.

Sasikumar told that about nine cases are pending against the woman. He has been sent to judicial custody. He said that four women police officers were injured in the clash. He said, ‘Two personnel were seriously injured and two others also received minor injuries. Three-four of our male personnel have also been injured. He said, ‘The male officers and personnel have not given any complaint, but two of the female officers have been badly injured and they have lodged a complaint.’

Siddaramaiah told reporters in Haveri that the accused woman had bitten the police officers. He said, ‘When police officers went to arrest the woman, she bit several officers. This is a very bad thing. An FIR was registered against him. When the policemen went to arrest him, he beat and bit them.

Siddaramaiah said that no one should take law into their hands, otherwise they will have to face legal action. Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly and BJP MLA R Ashok condemned the police action.

He alleged that under the Congress rule, criminal incidents like attempts to murder opposition MLAs, attacks on opposition workers and atrocities are becoming common in Karnataka. Ashok alleged, ‘The Congress government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has imposed an undeclared emergency in the state.’
