Kashmir Shia Protest: Anti-Pakistan protest in Kashmir against Islamabad mosque blast, slogans of ‘Down with Pakistan’ raised

After the suicide attack on Shia Muslim worshipers in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad, protests continued for the second consecutive day in Shia dominated areas of Kashmir. On Friday (6 February 2025), a suicide bomber blew himself up at Khadijatul Kubra Mosque and Imambara located in Tarlai area of ​​Islamabad. At least 31 people died in this horrific attack, while more than 170 people were injured. This attack is considered to be the biggest terrorist attack in the capital of Pakistan in the last several years.

In protest against this incident, people of Shia community took to the streets in peaceful demonstrations in areas like Baramulla, Bandipora and Pattan of Jammu and Kashmir. The protesters were holding posters with pictures of Iran’s supreme religious leaders Ayatollah Khamenei and Ayatollah Khomeini. They raised slogans against Pakistan and Israel and said that those who kill innocent people should go to places where Muslims are actually being attacked, like Palestine, Yemen and Syria.

Who took responsibility for the attack?

The protesters say that the Pakistani government has completely failed to protect religious minorities in its country. They paid tribute to those killed in the attack by lighting candles and showed solidarity with the families of the victims. People also demanded an immediate stop to the communal violence taking place in Pakistan. The Pakistan Chapter (ISPK) of the terrorist organization Islamic State has taken responsibility for this attack. According to SITE Intelligence Group, the organization said that the suicide bomber detonated among Shia worshipers inside the mosque, causing huge loss of life and property.

Deadliest attack in Islamabad

It is being told that this attack is the deadliest attack in the capital after the bomb blast in Marriott Hotel in Islamabad in 2008. After this incident, concerns about security have increased in the entire area and people are demanding strict action from the Pakistan government.
