The dispute continues between Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Congress leader as well as Deputy Leader of Opposition Gaurav Gogoi over alleged Pakistan connection. On one hand, Himanta Biswa Sarma is continuously attacking Gogoi, while on the other hand, the Congress MP gave clarification in a press conference on Monday.
He said that his wife had gone to Pakistan for work. He himself went on a 10-day trip with his wife in 2013. Also said that SIT never asked him questions about his 10-day trip to Pakistan. Now CM Sarma has again raised questions on his statements by posting on X on Monday.
How did he reach Takshashila which is in Rawalpindi district?
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on Instagram and said, ‘Gaurav Gogoi has made a revelation in today’s press conference. I also did not know about this before. Takshila is not in Islamabad, but in Rawalpindi district of Punjab. This is a fact, which raises serious and important questions.
He said, ‘Pakistan visa had permission to go to Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. How did he go to Taxila? Which is in Rawalpindi district directly outside Islamabad?
He said, ‘Under Pakistan immigration rules, travel outside the cities specified in the visa is not allowed without special permission. So the question is simple, factual and legitimate. Who helped him go to Taxila despite not having visa clearance for Rawalpindi district? This question is important because the General Headquarters of Pakistan Army, which is called the Headquarters of Pakistan Army, is located in Rawalpindi.
What else has Gaurav Gogoi said in the press conference?
Gaurav Gogoi has said that in the two and a half hour long press conference on Sunday, Chief Minister Sarma could not present any evidence which could prove that I am an agent of some other country. He kept talking vaguely. He had the SIT report for 6 months. He had talked about releasing this report to the public on September 10 last year. If this is a matter related to national security, then our only question is why was the CM silent on this report for the last 6 months? This is because the SIT formed by him has failed to present any evidence. He said that the reason behind yesterday’s long press conference was the increasing popularity of the Congress Party.
Gogoi said that the Chief Minister has stooped to such a low level that he made the information related to my children public. We also know about their children. Everyone knows, but we don’t want to make it public. He has proved that he is not the right person to sit on the Chief Minister’s chair. Assam is embarrassed by what he is saying.

Actually, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had held a press conference on Sunday. In this he had accused the Congress leader of having Pakistan connection. He had said that it is necessary to investigate the relationship between Pakistani citizen Ali Tauqeer Shaikh and Gaurav Gogoi’s wife Elizabeth. Also claimed that Ali Tauqeer Shaikh visited India several times between 2010 and 2013. Was associated with anti-India activities. Gaurav Gogoi’s wife has been given a job in a Pakistani company. Their salary is also paid by the citizens of Pakistan.
