India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar attended the 22nd convocation of Symbiosis International University, Pune. During this he also addressed the students. The Foreign Minister said, ‘We think that Mahabharata is a story related to power, struggle and family. We naturally don’t think about all the intricacies, moves, strategies and game plans of Ramayana. So actually, when someone asked me who is the greatest diplomat in your opinion?, and at that time I said Lord Krishna and Hanuman. Because, one is a great diplomat of Mahabharata and the other is a great diplomat of Ramayana.
He said, ‘Hanuman was actually sent to Sri Lanka to collect information. He was successful in gathering information. He was able to go there to meet Mother Sita. He was successful in boosting their morale. Now if you do not present such a person to the world, then I think we do a great injustice to our culture.
What did Jaishankar say on neighboring countries?
The Foreign Minister of India also expressed his views regarding the relations between neighboring countries. He said that Europe is a very important partner for us. With this we need to make more efforts. When we talk about our neighbourhood, our neighboring countries are smaller than us in size. Everyone is connected to us in some way or the other. There is politics there too. Sometimes circumstances go up and sometimes they come down. Sometimes they praise us, sometimes they criticize. Because the truth is that we ourselves become a big issue in their domestic politics.
