Did the incident take a political turn?

This incident has also taken a political form. Telangana BJP state president N. Ramachandra Rao visited the spot and accused the Congress government of failing to maintain law and order. Giving a controversial statement on his social media handle ‘X’, he said, ‘Even though I respect human rights, those who speak the language of ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ and defile our temples should be encountered.’ BJP and Bajrang Dal workers staged a protest outside the temple and demanded strictest action against the accused.

Taking immediate action, the police took the accused Altaf into custody. According to the police, a case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS), including hurting religious sentiments and illegal entry. On Sunday, he was produced in the court, from where he has been sent to judicial custody.

This incident in Saifalguda has once again raised questions on the security and communal sensitivity of religious places. While on one hand there is deep sorrow among the devotees regarding their faith, on the other hand, restoring peace in the area remains the biggest challenge for the administration. At present, heavy police force is deployed around the temple and the situation is being closely monitored.
