ED has started tightening its grip on British Maulana Shamshul Huda in Sant Kabirnagar district of UP. In the morning, ED Lucknow zonal team reached and raided Maulana’s house Raza Manzil located in Khalilabad Meat Mandi. The team arrived in three vehicles along with CRPF jawans and investigated inside Maulana’s house. The team interrogated Maulana’s wife and daughter-in-law.
Maulana Shamsul Huda has been accused of constructing a madrassa and other properties through foreign funding. Maulana’s Pakistan connections also came to light in the ATS investigation. ED is investigating regarding foreign funding. Maulana was a teacher in a madrasa in Azamgarh. He acquired British citizenship in 2013 and has been living in Britain since then. A case was registered against him under FEMA on the complaint of the District Minority Welfare Officer in Khalilabad Kotwali.
Took British citizenship, kept taking salary from UP government
Maulana Shamshul Huda Khan acquired United Kingdom (UK) citizenship in the year 2013 and continued to take salary as a teacher of Aliya section from the madrassa till 2017. Not only this, but with the connivance of the department he also took voluntary retirement. An FIR was registered on the complaint of Sarfaraz Ahmed, manager of Madrasa Darul Uloom Ahle Sunnat Madrasa Ashrafia Misbahul Uloom Mubarakpur Azamgarh, in the matter of receiving government money of Rs 16 lakh 59 thousand 555. Two FIRs are also registered in Khalilabad police station. The report filed under FEMA is still under investigation. Investigation has also revealed that even after taking UK citizenship in 2013, Maulana had allegedly voted in the 2017 assembly elections. In this entire matter, three separate FIRs have been registered against Samsul Huda Khan, his wife, son and daughter-in-law.
Order has been given to demolish Madrasa
Day by day, legal pressure is being tightened on Maulana Shamshul Huda Khan and her family. Following the order from the SDM Court to demolish the Madrasa built worth crores of rupees, the case is going on in the DM Court. Maulana’s son Tausif Raza has also taken refuge in the High Court in this matter, on which the court has stayed the matter for four weeks and ordered the court to dispose of the matter within this period. According to the records of the Madrasa, he remained a patron in the management committee here till 2023. After the case was opened in the year 2021, he registered his son with the management committee. Since then, he sat in Britain and kept looking after the madrasa and other work through his son. In the investigation report of ATS Varanasi, his activities were found suspicious, after which administrative action started being taken against him.

ATS investigation against Maulana revealed that Maulana Shamsul Huda Khan was involved in suspicious activities since 2007. In the name of Islamic propaganda, he used to visit many cities of Pakistan. He was also in touch with the clerics and religious organizations there. In India, he remained in contact with separatist leaders of Jammu and Kashmir and some suspicious persons. He tried to hide the use and source of the funding received from abroad. According to ATS, this entire network was an attempt to promote radicalism.
