If you use Microsoft Edge browser for your work then you need to be careful. Government agency Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a warning regarding this browser. The agency says that some such security flaws have been found in it, due to which access to your system can go into wrong hands. Let us tell you that Edge browser is also built on Chromium engine and it has many extra features and AI support, which increases the risk. The agency says that this threat is looming over all the users using Edge browser.
What is the danger to those using Microsoft Edge browser?
CERT-In says that due to many security flaws, there can be a serious impact on many components of the browser. This browser can be cyber-attacked due to many other flaws including out-of-bounds memory access in V8, inappropriate implementation in V8 and Blink. Remote attackers can take advantage of these flaws to make the user visit a specially crafted page, from where his data and personal information can be stolen. According to the warning, users using versions older than 144.0.3719.82 of Edge browser are at greater risk of cyber attack.
What options do users have now?
If you are using a version of Edge browser older than 144.0.3719.82, then update it immediately. To remove these flaws, security patches have been released, by installing which you can avoid the danger of cyber attack. To update the browser, go to the three-dot menu and select the option of Help and Feedback. Here click on About Microsoft Edge and install the update. To avoid any type of cyber attack, security experts recommend keeping your device and software updated.
