Amidst the ongoing war in the Middle East, a recent report from America has made a big revelation. According to the report, China is helping Iran militarily and technically. This report has been released by the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission. It says that China is giving Iran the technology used in making drones, anti-ship cruise missiles and rocket fuel.
According to the report, on March 2, two Chinese ships went towards Iran carrying chemicals which are used in making rocket fuel, such as sodium perchlorate. It also says that China is now changing its strategy. Earlier, due to fear of spoiling relations with Gulf countries, it did not provide direct military help to Iran and only provided dual use technology, but now China is also directly providing defense related technology to Iran. It has also been told in the report that China’s BeiDou Navigation System (BNS) is also being used by Iran.
How is China providing help?
Amidst the ongoing war in the Middle East, relations between China and Iran are also strengthening through forums like BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). This report has come at a time when war is going on in the Middle East. In such a situation, such a claim may further increase concern in global politics. Relations between Iran and China have strengthened significantly in the last few years. This relationship is not limited to politics only, but extends to trade, oil-gas, technology and security.
The biggest step was taken in 2021, when both the countries signed a major agreement of 25 years. Under this agreement, China will invest in roads, ports, energy and technology in Iran. In return, Iran will give oil and gas to China at cheaper rates. Both countries are expected to benefit from this in the long run.
