After the death of fundamentalist Usman Hadi in Bangladesh, miscreants carried out arson in many major cities including Dhaka and targeted minority Hindus. Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor told the US Ambassador that elections will be held in the country on time. Taking aim at Sheikh Hasina, Mohammad Yunus said that Bangladesh is eagerly waiting to exercise its voting right, which was snatched away by the autocratic government.
Talk regarding the murder of Osman Hadi
Mohammad Yunus said these things in a meeting with US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gore. In the meeting that lasted for about 30 minutes, trade and tariffs between Bangladesh and America, upcoming elections, current democratic situation and the assassination of Usman Hadi were discussed. Sergio Gore, who also serves as the US Ambassador to India, praised Professor Yunus’ leadership during the recent tariff talks.
Sheikh Hasina accused of disrupting elections
Mohammad Yunus posted on X that Bangladesh was successful in reducing the American reciprocal tariff to 20 percent. Both the leaders also discussed the funeral of Osman Hadi. Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor said that Sheikh Hasina’s supporters are spending millions of dollars to disrupt the electoral process and their leader, who has fled the country, is spreading violence. He said that the interim government is fully prepared to deal with any challenge.
Mohammad Yunus said, we have about 50 days left before the elections. We want to conduct free, fair and peaceful elections. We want to make it memorable. Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin, National Security Advisor Dr. Khalilur Rehman and SDG Lamia Morshed were present during this meeting.
