The central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (January 30, 2026) has announced the new name of the railway station of Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. The government has changed the name of Kathua Railway Station to Martyr Captain Sunil Kumar Chaudhary Kathua Railway Station.
Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh has announced this by sharing a post on social media platform X on Friday. He has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for changing the name of Kathua Railway Station.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the name of Kathua Railway Station has been changed to Martyr Captain Sunil Kumar Chaudhary Kathua Railway Station. He said that I express my heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promptly taking a positive decision on the popular demand put forward by the people of Kathua. Under which this railway station was named after the brave war martyr who was the son of this land.
