After the name of his party’s former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy surfaced in the Moinabad Farmhouse drug party scandal, BRS chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao has taken a tough stand. On the instructions of party president KCR, BRS has issued a formal show cause notice to former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy on drug abuse allegations. In the notice, Rohit Reddy has been directed to give a detailed written explanation on the allegations made in the media within seven days. The party has also made it clear that Rohit Reddy cannot take part in party and official activities till the final decision is taken.
BRS said in the statement that these allegations create concern among the public and harm the image of the party. The party made it clear that it completely opposes any illegal activity, including drugs. It has also been added in the notice that if the response is not given within the stipulated time, action will be taken as per the rules of the party.
Notice came three days after the incident
This notice has come three days after the incident, which shook the politics of Telangana. On the night of March 14, the EAGLE team raided Rohit Reddy’s farmhouse in Moinabad where about 2 grams of cocaine, a 32 bore revolver were recovered and 11 people were detained. A total of six people were found drug positive in the initial urine test and five in the blood test the next day, including Rohit Reddy himself and TDP’s Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar.
Notice issued on the instructions of Chandrababu Naidu
BRS is not alone in giving notice to its leader. On the instructions of Chandrababu Naidu, TDP Andhra Pradesh unit president Palla Srinivas Rao also issued a notice to MP Putta Mahesh Kumar to give a written explanation within 5 days and asked him to stay away from party activities. Rohit Reddy has already been a controversial figure for BRS. In 2022, he became the hero of the party by exposing the alleged horse-trading of BRS MLAs in the same farm house, but lost to Tandoor in the 2023 assembly elections. Now this drug scandal has become the biggest political crisis for both him and the party.
