More than 200 deaths in Iran due to US and Israeli attack, Tehran also fired missiles… Middle East went up in smoke

Israel and America attacked several targets including the Iranian Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday (28 February 2026). In response, Iran launched missile attacks on US military bases located in the Gulf countries, Tel Aviv and other places in Israel. So far, about 200 people, including 85 schoolgirls, have died in this attack in Iran. Claims are also being made about the death of Iran’s Defense Minister Aamir Nasirzadeh and some IRGC commanders in the Israeli attack. Israel said that the date of this operation was decided weeks ago, the purpose of which is to overthrow the Iranian regime. Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the President are safe in this attack.

More than 200 deaths in Iran

According to Iranian government media, 201 of its people were killed and 747 were injured in the attacks by America and Israel. US President Donald Trump gave three goals. First – to destroy the Iranian Navy, second – to destroy Iran’s missile industry and thirdly to ensure that Iran cannot acquire nuclear weapons. Trump also warned of possible American casualties. However, Iranian officials said retaliation would be devastating. Israel and America attacked Iran’s Tehran, Tabrez, Kermanshah, Qom, Karaj, Isfahan. The sky of Tehran was filled with smoke after the attack.

Iran attack on American military bases

In response to this attack, Iran fired missiles at American bases in Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Al Salem Base in Kuwait, Al Dhafra Air Base in UAE, US 5th Fleet Base in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh, Israel’s Haifa and Gali cities. France, Germany and the United Kingdom issued a joint statement saying, ‘Iran should stop its nuclear program and stop its ballistic missile program. Avoid activities that create instability in our countries. Iran should stop its horrific violence and repression against its own people.

France, Germany and UK issued joint statement

France, Germany and the UK clarified that they were not involved in this attack, but they are in contact with the United States, Israel and other countries. The statement said, ‘We strongly condemn the attacks carried out by Iran on countries in the region. Iran should avoid indiscriminate military attacks. We call for the resumption of negotiations and urge the Iranian leadership to seek a negotiated solution. Ultimately the Iranian people should be allowed to decide their own future.

S Jaishankar spoke to Abbas Araghchi

Amid the tense situation in West Asia, India on Saturday urged all parties to exercise restraint and prevent escalation of tension and stressed that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries should be respected. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke over phone with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Israeli counterpart Gideon Saar. The Ministry of External Affairs said that India expresses deep concern over the recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region.
