Saving runs is always a big challenge for bowlers in T20 cricket. Especially when there are aggressive batsmen in front, the situation becomes more difficult. Something similar was seen in the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, when India’s mystery spinner Varun Chakraborty proved to be very expensive. He gave 64 runs in four overs against England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This proved to be the most expensive spell of any Indian bowler in the history of T20 World Cup.

The name at the top of this list is that of fast bowler Prasidh Krishna. In the year 2023, in the T20 match played against Australia in Guwahati, he gave away 68 runs in four overs. In the last over of the match, Australia’s batsmen scored 23 runs against them, due to which India had to face defeat.
Varun Chakraborty – 64 runs
Varun Chakraborty’s name comes at the second place. In the semi-finals of T20 World Cup 2026, England’s batsmen scored runs freely against them. Especially young batsman Jacob Baithal hit three consecutive sixes in the beginning of his over, due to which his spell proved to be very expensive.
Yuzvendra Chahal – 64 runs
India’s experienced spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is also included in this list. During the South Africa tour in 2018, he gave away 64 runs in four overs in the T20 match played in Centurion. In that match, South African batsmen continuously hit big shots against him.
Arshdeep Singh – 62 runs
The fourth name in this list is that of fast bowler Arshdeep Singh. In the same match against Australia, he conceded 62 runs in four overs, which included 22 runs in one over. This match proved to be very difficult for the bowlers.
Jasprit Bumrah – 58 runs
The name of Indian team’s star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is also in this list. In a match played against New Zealand, he was given 58 runs in four overs. Although Bumrah is generally known for economical bowling, the New Zealand batsmen did not spare him in that match.
