Kerala News: An incident that shocked the sports world came to light in Kollam, Kerala on Thursday morning. Bodies of two teenage athletes were found hanging in the hostel of Sports Authority of India (SAI). Both the minor players were taking training here. As soon as the news of the accident was received, there was panic throughout Kerala.
The practice time was fixed at around 5 am on Thursday morning. Like everyday, all the players reached the field, but 17 year old Sandra and 15 year old Vaishnavi did not come. Hostel officials became suspicious. He went to both their rooms and called out, but the door did not open.
When there was no response even after calling for a long time, the hostel staff broke the door. When we went inside, we saw that the bodies of both the girls were hanging. Seeing this scene, everyone present there was stunned.
Who were the two players?
Local police said that both the minors are residents of Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram. She used to take training in Kabaddi. The other was an athlete. She lived in the hostel of Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Kollam, Kerala. One was a student of twelfth and the other of tenth class. Both of them were to stay in separate rooms in SAI hostel, but both were seen together on Wednesday night. The situation was normal till morning, other players said.
Murder or suicide?
According to hostel sources, there was arrangement for the two minors to live in separate rooms. But both were together on Wednesday night. In the morning other athletes saw him in normal condition. Then what happened that such a tragic incident happened? The police have started investigation by sending the bodies of both the girls for post-mortem. However, police said that no suicide note was recovered from the dead bodies. Therefore, there is doubt whether it is murder or suicide.
Police said that the families of both the minors have been informed. Police are also talking to hostel officials and collecting various information. The incident is that even ten years ago, a student of Water Sports Center had committed suicide in SAI’s hostel in Alappuzha, Kerala. At that time the Sports Ministry had ordered an investigation. Compensation was also given to the family of the deceased player.
