New world record made in Test cricket, this happened in NZ vs WI third test; that never happened before

The third Test being played between New Zealand and West Indies at Mount Maunganui is becoming exciting. Host New Zealand declared its first innings at 575 runs on the second day. Devon Conway and Tom Latham made a partnership of 323 runs for the first wicket, Latham scored a century and Conway scored a double century. After this, both the openers of West Indies also lashed out heavily at the bowlers, by the end of the day’s play they had scored 110 runs without losing any wicket. Meanwhile, a new world record has been made in New Zealand.

Latham-Conway created history

New Zealand won the toss in the third Test and decided to bat first. This decision proved to be correct, team captain Tom Latham along with Devon Conway defeated the bowlers fiercely. In the last over of the first day, Latham was out after scoring 137 runs. Along with Conway, he made a record partnership of 323 runs for the first wicket.

This has become New Zealand’s second biggest partnership in Test cricket and the biggest in 54 years. This pair has become the most successful pair in New Zealand’s Test cricket. On the second day, Devon Conway completed his double century. He hit 31 fours in his innings of 227 runs.

World record made in New Zealand

New Zealand declared its first innings at 575 runs for 8 wickets. In the end Rachin Ravindra also scored a half-century. He remained unbeaten after scoring 72 runs. After this, the West Indies openers also attacked the bowlers. By the end of the second day’s play, John Campbell and Brandon King had scored 110 runs without losing wickets. Campbell is playing on 45 runs in 60 balls and King is playing on 55 runs in 78 balls.

This is the first time in the history of cricket that the openers made a century partnership in the first two innings of a Test in New Zealand. This is a world record, because this had never happened before.
