Strong selling was seen in the Indian stock market in the special trading session held on Sunday, February 1, the day of the budget. After Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s budget speech (Budget 2026), sharp selling started in the market. Nifty 50 fell nearly 2% to close at 24,825.45. During the day, Nifty slipped 748.9 points to a low of 24,571.75. On the other hand, BSE Sensex also fell by 1.88% and closed at 80,722.94, while it fell by 2,370 points intraday.
