Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has got the youngest national president in the form of Nitin Naveen. He was officially elected as the 12th National President of BJP on Tuesday (20 January 2026). Nitin Naveen has made the first appointments for the various elections to be held in the states of the country this year. He has made Vinod Tawde the election in-charge for Kerala Assembly and Shobha Karandlaje as co-in-charge. Ashish Shelar, the current minister in the Maharashtra government, has also been given a big responsibility.

The new national president of BJP has also entrusted the responsibility of Chandigarh Mayor election to Vinod Tawde. Apart from this, Ram Madhav has been made in-charge of the corporation elections of Greater Bengaluru, Satish Poonia and Sanjay Upadhyay have been made co-in-charge. Nitin Naveen has appointed Ashish Shelar as election in-charge, Ashok Parnami and Rekha Sharma as election co-in-charge for the upcoming Telangana Municipal Corporation elections.
Nitin Naveen appeals to workers regarding elections
Nitin Naveen also called upon the party leaders and workers to make every possible effort to ensure BJP’s success in the assembly elections to be held in five states including West Bengal, protect Sanatan traditions and faith and save the country from demographic changes. He said, ‘On August 15, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called upon the youth of the country to enter public life. I want to tell the youth of the country that staying away from politics is not the solution, but making active contribution is the solution.
Nitin Naveen has been a five-time MLA from Bihar and before being appointed the working president of BJP on December 14, he had been the Minister of Law and Justice, Urban Development and Housing in the state government. The BJP President urged the party workers to continue working with full devotion and dedication at the booth and mandal level.

He said, ‘BJP’s surveillance system is so strong that it can keep an eye on every small thing and one day it will take you to the position you deserve.’ The new BJP president said that demographic change is being discussed in the states before the upcoming elections in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry.
