Nizamabad Police: ‘If you want to come to our city, you will have to take permission’, ruckus over the statement of the female police officer

A statement by a woman police officer in Nizamabad city of Telangana is now creating a storm on social media. In the video, the officer is clearly saying, ‘If you want to come to our city, then come with permission.’ This incident happened on the night of 15-16 February 2026, when some people were roaming in the city and the police stopped them. This statement has created anger among the people, because it is raising the question whether permission like visa has now become necessary to enter any city?

This matter came to light when a video went viral, in which a female officer of Nizamabad Police was talking to some youths or bloggers. The officer clearly said that prior permission will have to be taken from the police to enter the city or move around at night. Some people found the attitude of the police in the video arrogant, after which many users taunted it like issuing visas. A demand has also been raised for immediate action from the DGP of Telangana Police.

Tight security arrangements in municipal elections

Nizamabad has recently witnessed municipal elections. The police had made tight security arrangements during these elections held on 11 February 2026. Prohibitory orders were imposed at many places. There was tension between political parties and some leaders were stopped from entering the Municipal Corporation premises. The post of Nizamabad mayor was won by the alliance of Congress and AIMIM, while BJP captured Karimnagar. At the time of elections, the police had installed webcasting and checkposts at sensitive booths so that there were no irregularities. Perhaps some local rules are being cited in view of this security, but the issue of permission for ordinary citizens to enter the city seems unusual.

Question on freedom under Article 19

This statement of the police is raising questions on the freedom granted under Article 19 of the Constitution, where one has the right to roam anywhere in the country, provided there is no legal restriction. However, some people believe that the police remains alert in cases of making reels at night or violating privacy. Still, such a statement is shocking for common people. Till now no official clarification has come from Telangana Police. It is expected from the DGP office to take prompt investigation and action on this so that public confidence in the police remains intact. This incident shows how important communication is between the police and the public. If there is any rule then it should be explained clearly and the controversy should not be increased by such statements. It is hoped that soon the situation on this issue will become clear and the rights of the citizens will be protected.
