North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has chosen his daughter Kim Ju A as his successor. South Korea’s intelligence agency National Intelligence Service (NIS) gave this information while giving a closed-door briefing to the members of Parliament today. NIS said that Kim Ju Ae has now reached the ‘successor appointment stage’. Earlier NIS was telling them in ‘successor training’, but now the assessment has been changed. This means that the work of transferring power to the fourth generation of the Kim family in North Korea has started.
Who is Kim Jong’s daughter Kim Ju?
Very little information is public about Kim Joo Ae. It is believed that she is around 13 years old and was born in 2013. She first appeared in November 2022, when a long-range missile test took place. Since then, she has appeared with her father at many important events, such as weapons testing, military parades, factory inaugurations and most recently on the foundation day of the Korean People’s Army.
In January 2026, he visited the Kumsusan Sun Palace (the symbolic mausoleum of the Kim family), which is considered an important sign for the succession. In September 2025, she went to Beijing with her father, which was her first trip abroad. There she met Chinese leader Xi Jinping and attended programs at the North Korean Embassy. NIS says that these incidents show that Kim Ju A is now giving opinions on policy matters and is considered to be the second highest position.
