In some reports, quoting sources, it has been said that in the absence of Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad management is discussing handing over the captaincy to Ishan Kishan. Cummins could not even play the T20 World Cup due to injury. Opener batsman Abhishek Sharma can be made the vice-captain.

An Australian journalist told through his social media post that Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood are going through the rehabilitation process. Because of this, it is believed that both the Australian players may be out of the initial matches of IPL season 19. Hazlewood plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
