The 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) is going to start from March 28, the first match will be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy. Ishan Kishan, who performed brilliantly in the T20 World Cup, can take over the captaincy of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the initial matches, because it is not yet clear how long Pat Cummins will join the team.
In some reports, quoting sources, it has been said that in the absence of Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad management is discussing handing over the captaincy to Ishan Kishan. Cummins could not even play the T20 World Cup due to injury. Opener batsman Abhishek Sharma can be made the vice-captain.
Ishan Kishan made a comeback to international cricket before the T20 World Cup, after which he has been in excellent form. He impressed first as an opener and then at number 3, he does not hesitate to hit big shots from the first ball. His role can also be important in IPL 2026, because he bats at number three for Sunrisers Hyderabad and the openers (Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head) are also aggressive style batsmen.
Bad news for RCB too
An Australian journalist told through his social media post that Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood are going through the rehabilitation process. Because of this, it is believed that both the Australian players may be out of the initial matches of IPL season 19. Hazlewood plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
