Live Translation Feature: Google has introduced an update in its Translate app that can turn wired or wireless headphones of any company into a real-time translation device. With the help of this new beta feature, users will be able to listen to the translation of the ongoing conversation in their headphones at the same time. The special thing is that India is among the first countries where this facility is being provided.
How real-time headphone translation works
Through this feature, you will be able to understand the conversation, lecture or content happening in any other language without subtitles. As soon as you select the Live Translate option in the Translate app, the app immediately converts the voice coming from the front into the language of your choice.
While translating, the accent, intonation and rhythm of the speaker are also maintained to a great extent so that the voice does not sound like a machine. The biggest thing is that it does not require any particular brand of headphones. Whatever headphones you have, they can work with this feature.
In which countries and languages the facility is available
Currently, this feature has been launched in America, Mexico and India in beta stage for Android users. More than 70 languages are being supported in this. iPhone users will have to wait a bit for this, because Google has announced plans to expand to iOS and other countries in 2026.
Gemini AI makes translation even smarter
Along with headphone translation, Google has also started integration of Gemini AI in the Translate app. Instead of translating words directly, this new AI system understands their meaning and meaning and translates them. This makes the translation seem more natural and colloquial. For example, now any idiom or emotional sentence will not be translated word-for-word but will be done keeping in mind its real meaning.
Gemini-powered Translate started in India too
This Gemini based smart translation system has become available in India and America. Currently it works between English and about 20 languages, which include languages like Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Japanese and German. This facility will be available on all three platforms: Android, iOS and web.
Big update for language learners also
Google has also strengthened the language learning features in the Translate app. Now this tool will be available in 20 new countries which also includes India. Users can use features like pronunciation practice, speaking tips and daily learning streaks to improve their language. This system gives a somewhat game-like experience which keeps the motivation to learn continuously.
