There is a continuous uproar regarding the alleged Pakistan link case of Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi. Referring to an incident, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that I was in Singapore with a proposal to invest in Assam. At the same time, that picture went viral, in which Gaurav Gogoi was seen taking some youth to the Pakistani Embassy. Abdul Basit was Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India at that time. In a way he tried to provide legitimacy to Pakistan.
What did you say while mentioning Kargil war?
He further said that if you see this picture in the background of Kargil war, Captain Jintu Gogoi of Assam sacrificed his life for the country. Many other people also sacrificed their lives for the country. Everyone knows our relations with Pakistan and how the people of the country supported the Prime Minister during Operation Sindoor. This reflects the sentiments of the country.
Himanta Biswa Sarma made serious allegations
Sarma said that I do not think any other Congress leader would have ever visited Pakistan with such a large delegation. For a long time I thought that the picture was photoshopped but after two-three days, Congress people started supporting it. Then I realized that this picture is real. Then we started a full investigation because this case cannot be isolated.
Now Home Ministry will investigate- Sarma
He further said that it is not a matter of respect for an MP from Assam to have links with Pakistan, it is a matter of sadness. He told that the case of Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi’s alleged Pakistan links will now be handed over to the Home Ministry. He told that three main people are involved in this case, MP Gaurav Gogoi, his British wife Elizabeth Colburn and Pakistani citizen Ali Tauqeer Sheikh.
