NZ vs CAN T20 World Cup: Canada’s Yuvraj created history, became the youngest player to score a century in the T20 World Cup

Canadian opening batsman Yuvraj Samra has scored a historic century in the T20 World Cup 2026. In the do-or-die match against New Zealand, he played a brilliant inning of 110 runs in 65 balls, hitting 6 sixes and 11 fours. Yuvraj has become the youngest player to score a century in the history of T20 World Cup. Yuvraj Samra’s father named him after Yuvraj Singh.

Canada won the toss and decided to bat first at MA Chidambaram Stadium. There was a century partnership for the first wicket between Yuvraj Samra and captain Dilpreet Bajwa. The team’s first wicket fell at the score of 116 as captain. Bajwa scored 36 runs in 39 balls, after which Yuvraj completed his century.

Last night Pathum Nissanka became the first batsman to score a century in the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup. Today Yuvraj Samra also scored a century. He has become the first batsman from an Associate Nation to score a century. He became the batsman with the biggest individual innings so far in this edition. Batting first, Canada scored 173 runs losing 4 wickets in 20 overs.

Who is Yuvraj Samra?

Yuvraj Samra was born on 29 September 2006. He is a left-handed batsman, who has played 8 ODI and 18 T20 International matches for the Canadian national team. Apart from this, he has played 10 List A matches, in which he has scored 267 runs. His father had told in an interview that he had named Yuvraj Samra after the famous Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

While chasing the target of 174 runs, Finn Allen got off to a fast start, but with the fall of two wickets in a row, it seemed that Canada might now be in the match. Tim Seifert was out after scoring 6 runs on the fourth ball of the third over. Finn Allen (21) was also out in the very next over. But after this, Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips remained at the crease till the end. Rachin scored 59 runs in 39 balls and Glenn Phillips scored 76 runs in 36 balls. New Zealand confirmed its place in the Super-8 by winning the match by 8 wickets.
