Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on the Central Government and the investigating agencies regarding the National Herald case. Kharge said that this entire matter was fabricated out of political vendetta, which had no substance. Welcoming the court’s decision, he said that ‘truth always prevails.’
Kharge said that ED and CBI were misused to harass Congress leaders and many senior people without any solid basis. He alleged that investigative agencies were used as a weapon to target the Gandhi family. Kharge said that this decision of the court is a slap on the face of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. He should resign and say that he will not trouble the public in future.
‘This decision is an example of Satyamev Jayate’
The Congress President said, ‘This decision realizes the slogan of Satyamev Jayate. We welcome this decision. He said that he will not say much on this issue, because the complete information has already been shared by Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Kharge said that National Herald newspaper was founded by freedom fighters, but today the Gandhi family is being harassed by using the same name. He termed it unfortunate and condemnable.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi also made allegations
Congress Rajya Sabha MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that this entire matter is a story of malice, negligence and action without jurisdiction. He said, ‘There was a lot of noise, but it was not loud. This case was taken forward under pressure from the government.
‘ED created mental pressure by interrogating for hours’
Singhvi said that between 2021 and 2025, ED interrogated Rahul Gandhi for about 50 hours, Mallikarjun Kharge for 6 hours and Sonia Gandhi for 8 hours. He said that during this period, properties were frozen several times and various tactics were adopted.
From 2014 to 2021, the agencies themselves said – no crime
Singhvi said that this case started in 2014 and from 2014 to 2021, it was written in the files of ED and CBI that no ‘predicate offense’ is made out in this. Despite this, suddenly in June 2021, an FIR was registered and action was started.
The court refused to take cognizance
The Congress leader said that the court refused to take cognizance of this case and said that there was no need to go on merits. He said, ‘When there was no legal foundation, the case automatically fell in the court.’ Singhvi alleged that action was taken for about 80 hours without an FIR, which is against the spirit of the law and the Constitution. He called it a big example of misuse of investigating agencies.
Claim to answer on new FIR also
He said that a new FIR has been registered on October 3, to which Congress will respond in a legal manner, ‘We will bring out the truth on every platform.’ Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that neither any transaction of money took place in this case nor there is any evidence of financial irregularities. He said that neither Kharge nor Sonia Gandhi has taken any benefit from the Young Indian Company.
‘Even a child will understand this matter’- Singhvi
Singhvi sarcastically said, ‘Even a KG class child will understand that there is nothing in this case. If this was not the case, people would laugh at it. He said that this case was filed only on the basis of political allegations, which was rejected by the court.
