Pak player fined big in ‘ball tampering’ controversy, did shameful act in PSL match

A case of ‘ball tampering’ i.e. tampering with the ball came to light in Pakistan Super League 2026 (PSL 2026). In this controversy, allegations were made against Fakhar Zaman, who is playing for Lahore Colors in the tournament. The dispute took place on March 29 in the sixth match of the league, which was played between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings.

Taking cognizance of the matter, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) found Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman guilty of Level-3 on ball tampering charges and suspended him for two matches.

Fakhar had denied the allegations

The thing to note is that Fakhar had denied the allegations against him during the hearing, but the Pakistan Board confirmed Fakhar’s guilt and said that the suspension will remain in force. Field umpire Shahid Saikat, Faisal Khan Afridi, TV umpire Asif Yaqoob and fourth umpire Tariq Rashid made allegations in this matter. Now Fakhar will not be able to play the two matches against Multan Sultans and Islamabad United in PSL.

Umpire had imposed a penalty of 5 runs

During the match, when the umpire suspected that the ball had been tampered with, the field umpire imposed a penalty of 5 runs on Fakhar’s team Lahore Qalandars. Apart from this, the ball which was tampered with was also changed before the start of the over.

This incident happened before the last over of the match, when Karachi Kings needed 14 runs from 6 balls to win. Fakhar tampered with the ball before the over, but the umpire changed the ball. Haris Rauf took the responsibility of the last over for the team. Between the penalties, Karachi Kings needed only 09 runs, which the team scored in the first 3 balls and won the match.
