Pakistan Players, The Hundred: Pakistani players are not allowed to play in the world’s biggest league i.e. IPL. Now this misery of Pakistani players seems to be increasing further. In fact, now the danger of being out of another big foreign league seems to be looming over the cricketers of the neighboring country. This is ‘The Hundred’ league played in England.
Let us tell you that many teams playing in this league of England are owned by the IPL franchise. It was said in many reports that the teams owning IPL franchises may not consider Pakistani players.
Players’ salaries will increase, Pakistanis will not benefit
The upcoming season of The Hundred will be played between 21 July and 16 August. It is expected that the salaries of the players will increase this season. However, Pakistani cricketers are unlikely to benefit from this.
No interest in Pakistani players
A BBC report said, “A senior official of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) indicated to an agent that interest in Pakistani players would be limited to teams that have no connection with the IPL.”
All players will be selected in the league
Last year, ECB chief executive Richard Gould reportedly said that he expected players from all countries to be selected for all teams in The Hundred. In addition, he also stressed that the organizers have implemented clear anti-discrimination policies to ensure fairness.
An ECB spokesperson had said, “The Hundred welcomes male and female players from all over the world to the tournament and we hope all eight teams will reflect this.” Reportedly, around 1000 cricketers from 18 countries have registered for The Hundred.
