Pawan Hans Helicopter: A major accident was averted in Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Tuesday morning. A helicopter of Pawan Hans suffered a technical fault shortly after take off, after which the pilot had to land it in the sea. It is a matter of relief that all the people aboard the helicopter are safe and there is no news of anyone being injured.
This helicopter was going from Port Blair towards Mayabunder. There were a total of seven people in the helicopter. According to Pawan Hans spokesperson, this incident happened at around 9:30 in the morning. The helicopter had taken off from Port Blair with two crew members and five passengers.
Helicopter landed in sea due to technical fault
The helicopter suffered a technical fault during the flight. Looking at the situation, the pilot decided to land the helicopter in the sea keeping in mind the safety of all the people. Officials said that while landing in Mayabunder, the helicopter landed in the sea about 300 meters before the runway. According to initial information, investigation has been started to find out the reason for the technical fault.
Earlier, a Leh-bound SpiceJet flight returned to the national capital on Tuesday morning due to engine failure. A source said that there were about 150 passengers on board the Boeing 737 aircraft operating flight number SG121. When contacted, a SpiceJet spokesperson said that on Tuesday, a flight from Delhi to Leh returned to the capital due to a technical glitch.
“The plane landed safely in Delhi and all passengers were disembarked normally,” the spokesperson said in a statement. The source said the plane’s engine had malfunctioned. According to the spokesperson, there was no warning of fire in the cockpit.
